Overall Purpose of the Position

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a graduate of an accredited nursing program who holds a valid LPN license issued by the State of Hawaii. The LPN delivers quality nursing services to patients during their visits to the clinic.

Major

Job Responsibilities

Performs general nursing duties: escorts patients to the exam room, prepares them for examination, records vital signs, observes symptoms, elicits information, and reports to the provider as needed; carries out or assists with procedures directed by the provider. (20%)

Prepares patient records before the visit, ensures all reports are available, maintains accurate records of medications, injections, and treatments administered during the visit, and schedules follow‑up appointments as indicated. (20%)

Directs and supervises other health‑care personnel in the clinic, delegating duties within scope of practice. (20%)

Screens phone calls to the provider, determines if an appointment is required, calls patients to relay provider instructions or advice, and performs patient teaching and nursing checks per provider guidelines. (15%)

Assists in other offices when directed by the Director of Nursing or designee; performs tasks assigned by the provider or nurse in charge. (10%)

Maintains sanitary conditions in the office, orders medical and clerical supplies as needed. (5%)

Completes all other miscellaneous responsibilities as assigned. (5%)

Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on time, and makes decisions within limits of authority while adhering to company policies and procedures. (2.5%)

Maintains time‑and‑attendance standards consistent with company policy. (2.5%)

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Licensed as a LPN in the State of Hawaii.
Active, unexpired CPR/BLS certification.

Skills / Knowledge

Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Continual education and self‑update on nursing principles.
Proficiency in good body‑mechanics principles.

Preferred Qualifications

Effective communication and telephone skills.
Computer literacy preferred.

Equipment Use

Medical equipment such as nebulizer, pulse oximetry, EKG machine, glucometer, and other equipment specific to the clinic.

Characteristics

Physically fit to perform duties.
Willing to participate as a member of the nursing team.
Strong organizational skills and a “can‑do” attitude.

Environmental Factors

Walking 85% of the time; sitting 15%; lifts 25 lbs with occasional heavier loads.

Hourly Rate

LPN starting at $26.06; MA starting at $23.72; CA starting at $19.58, based on experience.
