Position: School Security Attendant I, II, III - Baldwin High

Job Summary

Position:
School Security Attendant (Levels I–III). Responsible for ensuring the safety and order of the school campus.

Responsibilities
  • Patrol the school grounds during class, lunch period, before and after school hours.
  • Observe and report unusual student behavior on campus.
  • Discuss problems with students and encourage them to seek assistance or counseling.
  • Ensure safe and orderly movement of pedestrians and vehicular traffic in and around the school grounds; may supervise the JPO program.
  • Enforce school rules by prohibiting smoking, gambling, fighting, vandalism, etc.
  • Inspect playground, bathrooms, assembly areas, cafeteria and other facilities for safety hazards.
  • Direct unauthorized persons and drivers off school premises and report concerns to administrators.
  • Assist school administration with supervision at special student activities such as assemblies, pep rallies, athletic events, and dances.
  • Inform students to proceed to their destination when loitering.
  • Assist teaching staff in handling disturbances.
  • Inform administrators of critical situations requiring police, fire or other assistance.
  • May activate the alarm as necessary.
  • Salary Range

    School Security Attendant I: $2,784.88 per month
    School Security Attendant II: $2,899.72 per month
    School Security Attendant III: $3,137.22 per month

    Experience Requirements
    • Level I:
      At least 6 months of general experience.
    • Level II:
      At least 6 months of general experience and 1 year of specialized experience.
    • Level III:
      At least 6 months of general experience and 2 years of specialized experience.

    General Experience – Work that follows written procedures, rules or regulations and involves interaction with coworkers, supervisors or the public.

    Specialized Experience – Experience in protecting property and people against hazards such as fire, theft, damage, accident or trespass; knowledge of basic protective systems.

    Substitutions Allowed
    • A high‑school diploma may substitute 6 months of general experience.
    • One year or more of law‑enforcement, security experience or an honorable discharge may substitute 6 months general and 1 year specialized experience.
    • An associate degree or higher may substitute 6 months general and 1 year specialized experience.
    Certification

    Must be registered as a Guard with the State of Hawaii Board of Private Detective and Guards, in accordance with Act 208, Sessions Laws of Hawaii 2010.
