This posting is being used to fill Human Services Professional positions that provide services to students at various schools within the Maui District as needed and assigned by the Maui District Office.
Salary RangeHuman Services Professional IV, SR-22: $5,369.00 - $6,535.00 per month. All new external applicants will start at the initial step of the salary range; placement above the initial step is based on special characteristics, critical needs, applicant qualifications, availability of funds, and other factors. Prior approval is required. Hawaii State Department of Education employees will be placed on the salary range in accordance with Department regulations.
ResponsibilitiesGraduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree that includes at least twelve (12) semester credit hours in counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology, or other behavioral sciences. Education must demonstrate the ability to write clear reports, read and interpret complex material, and solve problems logically and systematically.
Experience Requirements- Class
Title:
HSP IV – 2½ years specialized, 2½ years administrative, 0 years supervisory.
Demonstrated potential for supervisory duties through successful completion of assignments involving supervision or by serving as a group/team leader. Evidence may include training courses in supervision, favorable supervisor appraisals, or successful completion of supervisory tasks.
Administrative AptitudeEvidence of administrative abilities, such as managing projects, planning and organizing programs, handling policy and budgetary considerations, providing staff support, or completing administrative coursework and applying it to work assignments.
Specialized ExperienceProgressive professional work experience involving assessment, planning, and implementation of treatment plans for individuals and families, and monitoring and evaluating progress. Work may vary by setting but generally involves identifying client problems, developing service plans, initiating and implementing treatments, and conducting assessments.
Autism Spectrum Disorders Experience RequirementAt least one year of professional work experience providing services to students with ASD, including intervention plan development based on behavioral functions, participation in multidisciplinary treatment plans, and providing consultation/training to educators and families.
Driver's License RequirementSome positions require a current, valid driver’s license.
Non‑Qualifying Experience- Providing supportive services to professional human services specialists, social workers, vocational rehabilitation specialists, apartment managers, and other program staff where tasks were mainly transportation or phone calls to confirm appointments.
- Determining eligibility of applicants for benefits under public welfare programs such as medical assistance or food stamps.
