Overview
Hickam Hurricanes located on Camp Smith Marine Corp Base, Honolulu HI is seeking a motivated and training oriented Head Coach to run our year round competitive swim team. The Head Coach will be asked to manage day-to-day wetside operations of Hickam Hurricanes.
ExpectedJob Duties
Prioritize the safety of all swimmers during practices and at meets, follow proper protocol and guidelines set forth by Hawaiian Swimming, the LSC and Hickam Hurricanes. Safe Sport knowledgeable.
Build a positive, inclusive, safe and supportive team environment that fosters personal growth & development, teamwork and sportsmanship for both athletes and coaching staff.
Prepare and execute comprehensive training programs at all levels that meet the needs of each practice group in stroke technique and development and in alignment with the competition calendar for short course, long course and championship seasons.
Assessment and assignment of swimmers to training groups and appropriate goal setting. Maintain regular communication with swimmers and/or parents to assess progress.
Collaborate with the Board to build effective assistant coaching staff. Would be responsible for acquisition, onboarding and termination if applicable of coaching staff. Would ensure assistant coaches are enforcing team rules, regulations, and board policies.
Current USA Swimming coach member in good standing, including lifeguard, first aid and all USA Swimming coach courses and certifications.
Coaching experience that demonstrates a knowledge of developmental and advanced swimmers in stroke technique and training methodologies. Strong understanding of overall balance of training for distance and sprint, taper techniques.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Proficient in use of meet management files, USA swimming, and gmail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively interact with athletes, parents, staff and the board.
Ability to demonstrate reliability, availability, and ethical behavior including punctuality, confidentiality, professionalism, positive and constructive feedback.
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, attention to detail, accuracy and follow through.
Knowledge, compliance and commitment to Safe Sport and USA Swimming regulations.
The Head Coach position is salaried. This position will require working meets that are located on neighbor islands. This position does not cover moving expenses.
