The base annual salary for this position is $80k.

Living Culture Hui are always present at guest experiences 5 minutes prior to the start of the experience to greet guests and confirm they are in the right place.

Living Culture Hui are always personable and dressed in clean aloha-wear when interacting with guests during guest experiences.
7. Lokahi (Unity):
Living Culture Hui will provide concierge, events, and marketing a minimum of 2 weeks notice on upcoming major events and programming for the department.
8. Maka’ala (Vigilant):
Living Culture Hui will each conduct individual visual assessment of Honu Lagoon daily (looking for waterfall activity, significant debris in pond, dead animals etc.) to ensure monitoring throughout the day.
Assists with the operation and development of cultural and interpretive experiences and programs that are uniquely offered at Kalāhuipua`a.
Hosts guest experiences which may include story telling, lei making, hula, ʻukulele, mele (chants), weaving, and historical discussion (applicants need not necessarily be proficient in all these areas to start, but a background is preferred)
Support the Twilight at Kalāhuipua`a program
Assist with daily care of honu + sea life including feeding of animals and maintenance of lagoons when necessary
Assist with tracking and reporting honu growth and overall health
Assists with transfers and re-stocks of aquatic life in all ponds when necessary
Assist with filing and processing of orders for feed, flowers, and other supplies
Assist with logistical operations of department such as scheduling and attending meetings
Take care of simple repairs as it relates to the health of the pond and aquatic life
Ability to execute daily activities at the highest level of professionalism: be at work in a timely fashion, complete opening duties, be present and close with the next shift in mind; to be set up for success
Ability to convey a cultural sense of place with enthusiasm to the participants {guests, colleagues, students}
Fast learner who can process information including culture, Hawaiian language, science, Hawaiian history, nature, current events as they are related to Hawaiian culture/people and communicate confidently, humbly to ownership and participants
Confident and gracious demeanor with the ability to “think on feet”
Enjoys being with animals and has a genuine care for their well-being
Positive attitude towards staff, community and guests
Ability to receive and provide feedback; positive and constructive
Must be comfortable speaking and presenting to individuals or groups including students
Service oriented attitude towards internal and external guests
Ability to use good judgment in areas of safety and security of participants
Occasional long days and evening shifts
Willingness to enter and work in saltwater lagoons when necessary
