Substitute Teacher
We are currently looking for an inspired and well-qualified Substitute Teacher for all grade levels. The ideal candidate will be energetic and experienced in working with teenagers in a safe, fun, and nurturing environment. Since students' needs are constantly changing, the Substitute must also be highly organized, flexible, and able to demonstrate compassion and patience.
Responsibilities- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to students.
- Reports to the Upper School Registrar upon arrival at the school.
- Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
- Performs all extra duties for the absent teacher as required by the Upper School Principal.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares for the class(es) as assigned and follows the lesson prepared by the absent teacher.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Collaborates with colleagues and promotes goodwill among the HPA community.
- Reports any unusual occurrence or event to the principal immediately.
- Maintains a professional appearance and acts as an example for students.
- Demonstrates knowledge and incorporates technology in daily tasks, as required.
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Adheres to all COVID policies and procedures for safety and sanitation protocols.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience working with students in an educational environment is preferred.
- Ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents, as needed.
- Ability to use computers for classroom instruction and record keeping.
