Waimea : Special Education Multi-Disciplinary Inclusion Teacher

Overview

Special Education - Provide push‑in support for students with special needs in general education classes, prepare IEPs for case load students.

• Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.

• Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.

• Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
• Exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions.
• Maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively.
• Work effectively with others.

The Hawaii State Department of Education requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree for teacher, librarian or counselor positions. Applicants must hold a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit. For cases lacking a license, the candidate has a maximum of three years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a recognized Teachers’ Education Program. Active pursuit toward meeting Hawaii licensing requirements must be demonstrated each year of employment as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).
