Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the day-to‑day accounting operations of our complex nonprofit organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you'll lead the finance team, ensure financial accuracy and compliance, strengthen internal controls, and provide strategic financial insights that support our mission.
What You'll Do- Lead all accounting operations and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee accounts, general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and fixed assets.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and analyze budget-to-actual performance.
- Partner with the CFO on annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Manage grant and project accounting while ensuring compliance with government and foundation funding requirements.
- Lead the annual financial statement audit and assist with Form 990 preparation.
- Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal accounting policies and controls.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the Finance team while promoting operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency by leveraging AI and modern financial technology.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 7–10 years of accounting experience with expertise in financial reporting, audits, and investment accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work full‑time, on‑site at Kauai headquarters.
- CPA license.
- Experience in nonprofit accounting.
- Knowledge of federal and foundation grant management.
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge.
