The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division (NUWCDIVKPT) Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC) functions as NUWC’s forward presence in the Middle Pacific, Guam, and Western Pacific (WESTPAC) providing Detachment/Site Management in accordance with the Commanding Officer's (CO) letter of delegated authority to provide for program management, planning, policy, and execution of assigned programs and facility operations at the Detachment; monitor Safety and Occupational Health (SOH), physical and information security, personnel administration, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and professional development and morale, environmental compliance, appropriate interaction with all levels of Government and public affairs functions, site and area coordination for emergency preparedness, facilities management and space utilization, site material readiness, proper use of Government equipment and proper expenditure of funds, and adherence to good management practices and controls;
manage the Detachment/On-Site Office (OSO); perform Navy programs duties under authority; manage military personnel allowance in accordance with Navy regulations, including Article 15 authority (non-judicial punishment); and serve as the Command's representative to the local installation CO or facility host in negotiating for utilities, security services, and facility maintenance. Divisions supported within this task are Hawaii Fleet Test and Operational Assessment Division (Code 24), Pearl Harbor Torpedo Division (Code 34), and Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 45).
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Electronic Technician Maintenance supports the Submarine Fleet Technical Support Division in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
. This team is responsible for maintenance and deployment of support equipment associated with submarine operations and load-out. This includes maintenance, inventory control, transportation, and handling services for inert submarine weapons and vertical launch system support equipment, submarine acoustic countermeasure handling equipment, external countermeasures launchers, and weapons cradles. Although this position is based in Pearl Harbor, you may be required to provide flyaway support to locations throughout the Pacific Rim including San Diego, Bangor, Bremerton, and Guam.
You'll Do
- Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, modify, and install various types of Navy equipment and related devices.
- Perform preventative maintenance and preservation activities, including sanding, needle gunning, rust removal, surface preparation, painting, and general corrosion control in support of equipment and facility upkeep.
- Understand and comply with guidance in manufacturer's manuals, Navy instructions, technical drawings, and other related documentation.
- Participate in the movement of heavy equipment via truck, crane, and forklift in a high-tempo industrial environment.
- Support general shop and waterfront maintenance activities as required to maintain operational readiness and safety standards.
- Bid and proposal support if requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
