- Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation – vacancies in Aiea, Waimanalo to Kailua, and Halawa to Kalihi.
- Department of Human Services – vacancies in Downtown, Kalihi, and Kapolei.
- Social Worker or Human Services Professional II: $4,725 per month (SR-18, Step
D). - Social Worker or Human Services Professional III: $5,107–$6,221 per month (SR-20, Step D–I).
- Social Worker or Human Services Professional IV: $5,527–$6,728 per month (SR-22, Step D–I).
Social Workers and Human Services Professionals improve the quality of life for clients by providing remediation, prevention, and coordination of services. They work in hospitals, agencies, schools, correctional facilities, and substance abuse programs. Positions range from independent case management of complex cases (Type
A) to program specialist roles (Type
B) and supervisory roles (Type
C).
Legal authorization to work: U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident; or eligible under U.S. federal law.
Education:
- Social Worker II–IV:
Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in social work from an accredited program. - Human Services Professional II–IV:
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least 12 semester credit hours in counseling, criminal justice, psychology, etc. Supplemental work experience may substitute.
Specialized
Experience:
- Social Worker – none for Level II, 1 year for Level III (Bachelor), 2 years for Level IV (Bachelor); none for Levels II–III, 1 year for Level IV (Master); none for Ph.D.
- Human Services Professional – 6 months for Level II, 1½ years for Level III, 2½ years for Level IV.
Driver’s license: some positions require a valid license at time of appointment.
