Purpose of the JobThe Akin Center Front Desk staff exists to serve as support staff to the Akin Center Supervisor by regulating and maintaining the policies and procedures of the Akin Center Handbook.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Welcome patrons as they enter the building.
- Be familiar with and proficient in the rules of the Akin Center Employee Handbook.
- Enforce Akin Center policies as detailed in the Akin Center Employee Handbook.
- Sign in patrons for use of basketball gym, weight room, cardio room, and fitness room.
- Regulate guest and sponsor policies.
- Maintain cleanliness of the general seating area.
- Control and maintain rentals of equipment (sports and games equipment).
- Survey building periodically to ensure patrons are following policies and procedures and for their safety.
- Call distance learning students.
- Offer assistance to patrons if needed and answer phone calls to the desk.
- Create and print student/faculty/staff IDs.
- Complete incident reports.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Must attend required semester staff meetings.
- Must be available to help with special events, such as Welcome Week, Lunch on the Lawn, etc.
- Assist Akin Center Supervisor in various set‑ups and responsibilities to ensure the functionality of the Akin Center.
- Provide additional aid to the Director of Student Life, Akin Center Supervisor, and Event Coordinator as needed.

Knowledge and Skills- Proficient people and communication skills required.
- Proficient English skills required.
- Comfortable talking on the phone.
- Ability to enforce policies and confront participants and/or guests if necessary.
- Must have working knowledge of the internet and other similar web‑based programs.
- Punctuality is required.

Extent of Public ContactFrequent contact and communication with student body.
Physical DemandsNormal fitness for general Akin Center duties.
Working Conditions and EnvironmentWill often need to work early mornings, late nights, and/or weekends.
Some outdoor responsibilities.
QualificationsThis position is restricted to current SEBTS students and spouses of SEBTS students.
