Purpose of the Job

The Akin Center Front Desk staff exists to serve as support staffto theAkin Center Supervisor by regulating andmaintainingthe policies and procedures of theAkin Center Handbook.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Welcome patrons as they enter the building.
  • Be familiar with and proficient in the rules of theAkin Center Employee Handbook
  • Enforce Akin Center policies as detailed inAkin Center Employee  Handbook.
  • Sign in patrons foruse of basketball gym, weight room, cardio room, and fitness room.
  • Regulate guest and sponsor policies.
  • Maintenance and Cleanliness of the general seating area.
  • Control andmaintainrentals of equipment(sports and games equipment).
  • Survey building periodically to ensure patrons are following policies and procedure sand for the safetyof the patrons.
  • Call distance learning students.
  • Offer assistance topatrons if needed and answer phone calls to the desk.
  • Create and print student/faculty/staff IDs.
  • Complete incident reports.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Must attend required semester staff meetings.
  • Must be available to help with special events such, but not limited to, Welcome Week, Lunch on the Lawn, etc.
  • Assist Akin Center Supervisor in various set-ups and responsibilities to ensure the functionality of theAkin Center.
  • Anyadditionalaid to the Director of Student Life,Akin Center Supervisor, and Event Coordinator as needed.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficientpeopleand communicationskillsrequired.
  • Proficient English skills required.
  • Comfortable talking on the phone.
  • Ability to enforce policies and confront participants and/or guests if necessary.
  • Must have working knowledge ofinternetand other similarweb-based programs.
  • Punctuality is required.

None

Extent of Public Contact

Frequent contact and communication withstudentbody.

Working Conditions and Environment

Will of tenned to work early mornings, late nights, and/or weekends.
