The Instructional Coach serves as part of the Leadership team and is responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting teachers and administrators with the goal of supporting student learning, increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity. The Instructional Coach focuses on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine teacher understanding about research-based, effective instruction.
The Instructional Coach provides personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers. The Instructional Coach has a clear vision of what good core instruction looks like along with the ability to translate that vision into relevant professional development and coaching for teachers and paraprofessionals.
- Master’s degree
- NC Teacher Licensure or eligibility for such certification
- A minimum of 3+ years teaching experience
- AMI or AMS Montessori training - preferred
- Facilitates the intellectual and professional development of teachers and paraprofessionals.
- Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
- Communicates and demonstrates research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
- Oversee teacher development program including teacher licensure.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community.
- Participate in professional development to learn about and share innovative instructional strategies.
- Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.
- Required prolonged sitting or standing.
- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, objects or materials of no more than 25 pounds.
- Occasionally stooping, bending, reaching.
- Primarily indoor work with year-round outdoor duties.
- Proposing, designing, and delivering professional development learning opportunities for teachers and paraprofessionals.
- Offering courses for adult learners both remotely and in in-person group learning environments.
- Coaching and supporting teachers and/or paraprofessionals through one-on-one or group sessions.
- Observing, assessing, and debriefing with teachers and/or paraprofessionals to offer direct and constructive feedback.
- Collaborating with a team of agile, thoughtful support personnel to support teachers through challenging or unusual classroom circumstances.
- Provide support in analyzing student assessment data.
- Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on data.
- Provide support for academic and behavioral concerns.
- Monitor intervention programs.
- Model lessons when appropriate.
- Writing, editing, or creating video, photo, or written resources to provide to teachers in their classrooms.
