Role Description

The Montessori Lead Teacher is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Wake Forest, NC. This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining a Montessori classroom environment that supports children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and language development. Day‑to‑day tasks include planning and delivering lessons, modeling and reinforcing classroom routines, observing children’s progress, and adjusting materials and activities based on individual needs. The Lead Teacher will guide children through Montessori works, support emerging language skills, and ensure a safe, nurturing space where each child is respected.

The role also involves regular communication with families, collaboration with colleagues, participation in school events, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Education and Teaching, with experience in early childhood or preschool settings.
  • Demonstrated skills in Lesson Planning and Training, including designing age‑appropriate learning activities and mentoring classroom assistants.
  • Effective Communication skills, including clear spoken and written communication with children, families, and team members.
  • Montessori certification or training (AMI, AMS, or equivalent) preferred; willingness to deepen Montessori practice through ongoing learning.
  • Ability to create an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that supports diverse learners.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong classroom management skills, with a commitment to positive guidance and respect for each child.
  • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Ability to meet local licensing requirements, including background checks and health/safety training.
