Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher

Wake Preparatory Academy is now accepting applications for a Long-Term
Substitute Special Education (EC) Teacher for the 2026 academic school year.
This position will be needed from late August through October. Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Deliver instruction according to lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
• Manage classroom behavior in alignment with school policies and expectations.
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other assigned areas.
• Maintain a respectful and inclusive environment for all learners.
• Adapt to different grade levels, subject areas, and instructional needs as assigned.
• Record attendance and report any incidents, concerns, or issues to school administration.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Pass applicable background check
• North Carolina EC Teaching Certificate

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Active or expired educator’s license
• Previous classroom or childcare experience
