Veterinary Care Technician

Purr Partners Feline Rescue, a local 501(c)(3) feline rescue group in Wake Forest, is looking for a part‑time Veterinary Assistant/Tech. This position offers a low‑stress environment with ample time to work with rescued cats and kittens and apply your training and knowledge in a setting that shares your love for felines.

• Intake rescued cats and kittens, identifying and treating medical issues as needed.
• Respond independently to medical questions and issues in the rescue.
• Maintain accurate records on computer and paper.
• Work with veterinarians to provide care.
• Manage daily shelter duties, including extensive cleaning.
• Perform tests, vaccinations, medication, and health monitoring.
• Provide tube feeding and neonatal kitten care.
• Collaborate with foster caregivers.

• 1–3 years of experience caring for cats and kittens of all ages, including feral and difficult animals.
• Ability to work alone, independently, and efficiently.
• Strong record‑keeping skills and familiarity with veterinary terminology.
• Comfortable with cleaning and general shelter operations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow veterinary guidance.

20–24 hours per week, primarily in the evenings with some morning shifts. Typical four‑hour shifts include:

• Evenings:
  Sunday–Thursday (3 – 7 p.m. or 4 – 8 p.m.)
• Mornings:
  Saturday/Sunday (8 – 12 a.m. or 9 – 1 a.m.)

Hourly rate of $18 – $20.

Part‑time (possibility of full‑time, not guaranteed).
