Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
SUMMARY
Perform various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion to assist the laboratory professional staff and facilitate production.
LOCATION & TYPEFull‑time, Wake Forest, NC, US
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Tracking, sorting, and receiving specimens in the department.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines.
- Perform laboratory tasks of accessioning samples, record keeping for specimen and specimen exceptions, scanning documentation, specimen storage, and specimen retrieval.
- Use inventory software for supply counts, receiving, stocking, and organizing inventory.
- Prepare specimens at workstations for testing.
- Decontaminate work areas while keeping and maintaining all toxicology sections cleaned and organized.
- Use the laboratory computer system and operate PCs.
- Follow all PPE requirements and all safety regulations.
- Able to handle human specimens such as oral and urine samples for processing.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, but rather a general description of the work performed by this position.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of how specimen processing impacts the testing laboratory.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment with deadlines, time constraints, and to communicate effectively.
- Strong team player, works well with staff and peers.
- Ability to reason through situations and make sound decisions.
This is a full‑time position, Monday‑Friday. Additional evening and weekend hours may be required from time to time to accommodate training or business needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
