Position: Psychology Graduate (School Based)

Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – SEND Support (Primary & Secondary)

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to build hands‑on experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a school setting? We are recruiting Psychology Graduates to work in primary and secondary schools, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and learning needs.

Leader Education is working in partnership with welcoming and supportive schools to recruit dedicated Psychology Graduates who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

The Role

This is a full‑time position (Monday–Friday) supporting pupils in the classroom, in small groups, and on a 1:1 basis. You will work closely with teachers and SEND staff to provide tailored support to children who need additional help with learning, communication, emotional regulation, and social development.

You will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Support children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and other additional learning needs
  • Help pupils stay engaged with learning and access the curriculum
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Support emotional regulation, social development, and confidence building
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Promote a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Pupils you support may present with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, moderate learning difficulties, communication needs, and sensory needs.

This role is particularly well suited to graduates interested in careers such as:

Previous school or care experience is helpful but not essential. Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals in any setting would be advantageous.
