Classroom Behavior Specialist PD

Summary

In collaboration with the classroom team, the Special Education Assistant is responsible for assisting the Special Education Teacher with the implementation of effective academic and social-emotional programming for assigned students.

• Assist in formulating, implementing, and evaluating social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs.
• Support students with activities of daily life such as toileting and self‑care tasks.
• Collect, manage, and analyze data on social‑emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
• Prepare and present verbal and written reports on social‑emotional and behavioral functioning.
• Assist in implementing the academic and social‑emotional curricula as directed by the classroom teacher and team leader.
• Provide academic support to students as instructed by the classroom teacher.
• Prepare and submit required paperwork for the student record.
• Attend and participate in classroom team meetings and other student‑related meetings as assigned.
• Attend supervisory sessions, staff meetings or other meetings as assigned.
• Observe all Bradley Schools policies, rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as required, assigned, or directed.

• Preferred:
  Baccalaureate Degree with a major in education or related human service fields.
• Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel (training provided if needed).
• Prior experience working with children is helpful.
• Must demonstrate ability to remain calm during crisis situations and make rapid, rational decisions.
• Must be able to use de‑escalation techniques and physically manage students safely, including lifting up to fifty pounds, holding, and escorting students short distances.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

$19.03 - $31.39 per hour
