Summary
In collaboration with the classroom team, the Special Education Assistant is responsible for assisting the Special Education Teacher with the implementation of effective academic and social-emotional programming for assigned students.
Responsibilities- Assist in formulating, implementing, and evaluating social-emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs.
- Support students with activities of daily life such as toileting and self‑care tasks.
- Collect, manage, and analyze data on social‑emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
- Prepare and present verbal and written reports on social‑emotional and behavioral functioning.
- Assist in implementing the academic and social‑emotional curricula as directed by the classroom teacher and team leader.
- Provide academic support to students as instructed by the classroom teacher.
- Prepare and submit required paperwork for the student record.
- Attend and participate in classroom team meetings and other student‑related meetings as assigned.
- Attend supervisory sessions, staff meetings or other meetings as assigned.
- Observe all Bradley Schools policies, rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as required, assigned, or directed.
- Preferred:
Baccalaureate Degree with a major in education or related human service fields. - Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel (training provided if needed).
- Prior experience working with children is helpful.
- Must demonstrate ability to remain calm during crisis situations and make rapid, rational decisions.
- Must be able to use de‑escalation techniques and physically manage students safely, including lifting up to fifty pounds, holding, and escorting students short distances.
- Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Pay Range$19.03 - $31.39 per hour
