Military Area Manager

This role focuses on individuals with military experience who are interested in working within Amazon’s private sector. Amazon’s military recruiting team is available to discuss many opportunities within Amazon Operations.

Operations is the beating heart of Amazon, ensuring orders are fulfilled and dispatched efficiently so customers receive items on time. As an Area Manager, you will lead a team that maintains safety, efficiency, and high quality, and will manage projects across the network to increase productivity.

• Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing.
• Analyse and implement changes to keep quality and productivity at a consistently high level.
• Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity, and increase quality of service for customers within your area of responsibility.
• Analyse shift performance against relevant business objectives and implement actions to improve operational excellence.
• Collaborate with management-level colleagues to standardise shift practices.

You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, focusing on maximizing productivity. You will own and drive a culture of safety, uphold quality and shift performance standards, and oversee process improvements within your area. A typical day varies, covering routine team management, daily operational duties, process improvement, and large‑scale contingency tasks. You will also serve as a role model and mentor to new managers.

The Customer Fulfilment (CF) team has grown from a small bookseller group to a global team managing over 1.5 million orders daily. CF forms the foundation of Amazon’s business, allowing us to diversify across new regions and services. Positioned in Fulfilment Centres—often called the First Mile—our teams manage dynamic inventory and facilitate rapid, round‑the‑clock deliveries.

• Experience in English‑language communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A degree.
• Relevant experience in people management.
• Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
• Experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.

• Experience working with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques.
• Experience working in another logistics environment.
• Experience with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional setting.
