Summary:

Blackfield Associates are working with a global biopharmaceutical manufacturing organisation in their search for a Senior Automation Project Lead to support a new $500 million+ greenfield investment programme for end-to-end drug product production in Maryland, United States.

This is a 60% site-based hire on multi-year contract assignment offering a key leadership role for automation within a major capital investment. The position is focused on managerial program oversight, integrator/subcontractor selection, overall project delivery, and technical governance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary point of contact for oversight of automation deliverables (DeltaV, MES, OSI PI) throughout the full project lifecycle, including concept design, detailed design, construction, execution, and validation.
• Review and challenge the design, programming, specifications, and technical documentation produced by vendors and project partners to ensure quality, accuracy, and success.
• Monitor and verify that deliverables meet project requirements and quality standards.
• Ensure technical alignment and the successful execution of the Automation and Digitial manufacturing scopes.

Requirements:

• Strong DeltaV technical understanding with proven experience acting as a lead within complex, large-scale automation projects.
• Proven experience supporting greenfield life sciences manufacturing projects within FDA/GMP-regulated environments.
• Ability to review, challenge, and validate technical vendor documentation and strategies.
