Introduction
The Maryland Commission on LGBTQIA+ Affairs is a 21-member statewide body established by the General Assembly in 2021 to assess challenges facing LGBTQIA+ communities, advise the Executive and Legislative branches of State government, collect and analyze information on LGBTQIA+ policies and discrimination, identify inclusive best practices, and make recommendations to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ Marylanders. The Commission works across State government and in partnership with communities throughout Maryland to ensure that the experiences and needs of LGBTQIA+ people inform public policy and State programs.

POSITION DUTIESThe Director, who may not be a member of the Commission, will administer its activities and will serve as the State’s LGBTQIA+ Commission Director in the administration of its activities, including coordinating Commission operations; contributing to the annual budget; strategic planning; responding to internal and external requests; supporting the work of Commission committees and advisory bodies; ensuring the effective implementation of the Commission's statutory responsibilities;
and processing commissioner reimbursements.
- Planning and coordinating statewide meetings, conferences, summits, and other public engagement events that advance the Commission's mission and strategic priorities.
- Developing and implementing measures in conjunction with the commission to identify, pursue, and secure grants, sponsor ships, donations, and other non-State funds to augment the Commission’s work within its statutory authority.
- Preparing and submitting an annual report to the Governor and the General Assembly, and other pertinent reports, briefings, white papers and recommendations as needed.
- Managing information and overseeing its presentation through the Commission’s website, newsletter, social media, public relations, and other external communications to expand awareness of the Commission’s work and engagement with communities throughout Maryland. Collaborating with all State agencies on exchanging information and collecting data on LGBTQIA+ policies and discrimination complaints.

- Inform the Executive and Legislative branches of State government on issues concerning LGBTQIA+ persons.
- Offer testimony on issues concerning LGBTQIA+ persons before legislative and administrative bodies.
6) Create surveys and appoint advisory committees. - Publish an annual report and other material the Commission considers necessary, that includes recommendations on policies for LGBTQIA+ adults and youth to end discriminatory practices in the State.
- Assist the commission in augmenting state funds for these purposes from gifts, grants, donations, bequests, and/or endowments; and
- Direct and generally attend to the administration of the Commission related tasks.
- Liaise with counterparts in other states and territories.
- Education:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. - Experience:
