Program Director – K&I HEALTHCARE SERVICES (KIHS)
KIHS is seeking a Program Director that can help us carry forward the traditions of recovery with unconditional kindness. The ideal candidate will be both an outstanding provider of substance use disorder counseling and a strong leader.
Licenses & Credentials- LCADC, LCPC, LMSW, LGPC, LCSW-C, and SUD Approved Supervisor status in Maryland
- Must have an active CAC-AD license*
- Full‑time
- Pay: $95,000.00 – $ per year (depending on licensure)
- Signing Bonus: $3,000
Working under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Program Director is a visible leader responsible for managing the Substance Abuse Department. This position coordinates and implements client educational and therapeutic activities, provides clinical and administrative supervision of SUD staff, reviews and maintains departmental policies, and manages admission activities to determine appropriate levels of care. The Program Director is responsible for the daily administration of SUD clinical services, training staff, managing key performance indicators, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Duties- Execute established clinical outcome KPIs (patient retention, program completion rates, clinical outcomes, census, attendance, and average length of stay) with the CEO and Medical Director.
- Ensure SUD staff KPIs, including counselor direct care hours, are met.
- Set a standard of clinical and professional excellence, providing clear expectations and accountability for all SUD staff.
- Address patient concerns and resolve clinical, program, and customer service issues.
- Safeguard model fidelity by promoting an evidence‑based, harm‑reduction, recovery‑oriented approach.
- Apply and train staff in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma‑Informed Care, and Trauma‑Informed Treatment Approaches.
- Provide supervision focused on performance management and clinical certification or licensure.
- Complete weekly clinical supervision documents within 24 hours of supervision.
- Ensure completion of clinical documentation (treatment plans, BAMs, group & individual notes, discharge summaries, etc.).
- Facilitate and document weekly staff meetings, group supervision, and case consultations.
- Conduct regular observations of groups and individual sessions to ensure service delivery meets clinical standards.
- Submit required active chart reviews and 100% intake and discharge charts to clinical leadership.
- Review daily and weekly reports to ensure adherence to patient care, documentation, and KPIs.
- Review admission, discharge, and census data weekly for the program/area of responsibility.
- Coordinate employee onboarding and termination with clinical leadership and HR.
- Manage a reduced caseload, with potential to take a full caseload as program needs dictate.
- Provide group coverage, direct intervention during client crises, and support staff during critical situations.
- Partner with the compliance team to maintain CARF and state regulatory compliance.
- Adhere to company operating policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the medical director and other clinical leadership to improve and develop clinical programming.
- Embody the spirit of a teacher, driving professional growth for the team.
- Provide clinical training for external companies outside the assigned program/area.
- Conduct marketing and outreach, promote services, and develop strategic partnerships with community stakeholders.
- Promote the organization’s image in a positive, professional manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master’s Degree preferred (social work, human services, behavioral health).
- Valid CAC-AD license.
- Minimum three full years of experience in substance and behavioral health services.
- Minimum five years of administrative supervision and oversight experience.
- Meet all state and regulatory requirements for clinical supervision in the state of employment.
- Experience providing group and individual counseling for substance use and co‑occurring psychiatric disorders.
