About the role:

The Principal Oracle Database Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting Oracle database environments across physical and virtualized systems. This high‑visibility role requires a self‑starter who can effectively multitask, communicate clearly with customers and Everfox management, and independently support medium‑to‑large‑scale Oracle database deployments. The position plays a key role in ensuring system stability, performance, and security while collaborating with product support, development teams, and onsite government or contractor personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot RHEL 8.x operating systems supporting Oracle Database software in physical and virtualized environments.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot pluggable and containerized Oracle 19c databases in physical and virtualized environments.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle RAC 19c.
  • Perform RHEL 8.x and Oracle 19c upgrades and patching activities.
  • Periodically validate Oracle 19c backup and recovery operations leveraging RMAN.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Oracle database performance using AWR reports, database views, and related tools.
  • Provide on‑demand support for database issues, including coordinating with Oracle support as needed.
  • Work with product support and development teams to resolve issues or bugs found in deployed products.
  • Collaborate with onsite government, contractor, or subcontractor staff to resolve issues with onsite products as first‑line support.
  • Review, apply, and remediate security vulnerabilities or security controls following STIG guidance or scanning reports.
  • Install firmware updates on physical components including HPE servers and HP SANs.
  • Communicate daily with customers and Everfox management, providing detailed activity summaries and trip reports when applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Knowledge and Skills
  • Expert‑level proficiency supporting RHEL 8.x operating systems and Oracle 19c environments.
  • Extensive experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Oracle RAC, pluggable databases, and containerized databases.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle performance tuning, monitoring, and diagnostic tools.
  • Skilled at backup and recovery validation using RMAN.
  • Ability to collaborate with onsite government and contractor staff and serve as first‑line support for deployed products.
  • Strong understanding of STIG compliance, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration management.
  • Ability to install firmware updates on enterprise hardware including HPE servers, SANs, NFS, and ZFS appliances.
  • Excellent communication skills, including providing detailed daily summaries and comprehensive trip reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and interface effectively with customers and Everfox leadership.
