Tooling Engineer | Walker, MI
Salary Range: $69,000 - $108,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Walker that are seeking skilled Tooling Engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize new and existing tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for tooling-related issues and failures.
- Manage the maintenance, repair, and calibration of all production tooling to ensure operational readiness.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to ensure tooling meets product specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for tooling construction, considering cost, durability, and performance.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for tooling assets.
- Evaluate and integrate new tooling technologies and processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, or maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for tool design and analysis.
- Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, or machining.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles and their application in tooling design and inspection.
- Experience with tool material selection, heat treatment, and surface finishing processes.
- Experience with Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing for tooling applications.
- Proficiency in advanced simulation software (e.g., FEA, mold flow analysis).
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or demonstrated experience in continuous improvement related to tooling.
- Familiarity with automation and robotics integration in tooling operations.
