Salary Range: $71,000 - $110,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Designs and develops new products and product improvements.
• Creates detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Performs design calculations and simulations to validate product performance.
• Collaborates with manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability and assembly.
• Conducts design reviews and implements feedback for continuous improvement.
• Investigates and resolves design-related production issues and customer complaints.
• Selects appropriate materials and components based on technical specifications and cost.
• Develops and maintains technical documentation, including specifications and test plans.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in product design within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA, Fusion 360) for 3D modeling and drafting.
• Demonstrated experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
• Familiarity with various manufacturing processes such as injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and additive manufacturing.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with CAD automation or scripting (e.g., Solid Works API, Python).
• Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers or lead small project teams.
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining).
• Portfolio showcasing personal projects or contributions to open-source initiatives.
