Before you sign off, you sync with leadership on project updates and mentor a junior designer on best practices.
What you’ll do Translate requirements into robust 3D designs for automated equipment, layouts, and subassemblies in Solid Works.
Lead and manage assigned projects (including mid-scale initiatives), guiding cross-functional project teams to deliver on scope, schedule, and quality.
Apply GD&T and Datum schemes to create accurate tooling and fixture designs.
Design using NAAMS standard components and proven design approaches.
Engineer systems that comply with customer specifications, Axis Automation build standards, and current safety guidelines.
Present mechanical concepts and detailed designs to internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers; lead formal design reviews.
Consult closely with Process/Cost Engineers to align technical choices with manufacturability and cost targets.
Assess customer-supplied CAD models, verifying data levels and revision accuracy.
Maintain timely, transparent communication with Axis management and project teams as developments occur.
Build strong customer relationships; manage requests and changes professionally.
Source and specify major purchased components through vendor engagement.
Coach and train less-experienced Mechanical Design Engineers and Co-Ops/Interns.
Create, refine, and document department standards, methods, and procedures.
Support build and assembly teams through integration, test, and validation.
Actively live Axis Automation’s ten Operating Principles in daily decisions and teamwork.
What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
5+ years designing automated machinery (required).Hands-on knowledge of automated assembly; welding experience preferred.
Advanced command of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
Track record of delivering complete, production-ready design packages.
Strong grasp of control systems, manufacturing processes, and robotic integration.
Advanced proficiency with parametric 3D CAD (Solid Works preferred).Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Compensation & benefits
Salary: $85,000 – $95,000
