Job Overview
The incumbent is responsible for a wide range of assignments and provides administrative support to the Member Services Unit. The clinical staff recovery aspects of this position directly impact the facility. The incumbent is organizationally aligned in the Health Administration Service (HAS).
Responsibilities- Provide administrative support to the Member Services Unit.
- Manage medical and administrative record systems, including integrated billing, registration, appointment management, enrollment, and patient demographics software applications.
- Interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and make sound decisions using good judgment.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Exercise initiative, originality, and leadership in assigned duties.
- Time‑In‑Grade Requirement: Current federal employees with a GS grade within the past 52 weeks must meet time‑in‑grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date (07/27/2026). All applicants must submit an SF‑50 confirming eligibility.
- Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS‑04 is required. Experience may include:
Knowledge of medical and administrative record system;
Ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and make sound decisions;
Proficiency with Word, Excel, and VISTA packages such as Integrated Billing, Registration, Appointment Management, Enrollment, and Patient Demographics;
Effective oral and written communication;
Initiative, originality, and leadership skills. - Education: 4 years above high school from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Transcripts required.
- Combination: Applicants may combine education and experience. A combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward the specialized experience requirement.

- Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary but requires bending, walking, standing, lifting, and carrying patient records and reports. Ability to read CRT for long periods and access information from various computer systems.
