About the Role:

As a Buyer, you will coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts supplies, and advertising for the organization. Purchasing will range from off‑the‑shelf to complex type items.

What You Will Do:
  • Conduct annual purchases around $10 million.
  • Manage major commodity and multiple top 20 accounts.
  • Arrange and participate in conferences between suppliers and engineers, inspectors, and other company personnel to facilitate material inspection, substitution, standardization, rework, salvage, utilisation, and economical procurement of parts and equipment.
  • Consult with engineering personnel to establish performance criteria and specifications for manufacturing and testing.
  • Work with suppliers’ base to establish programs to increase efficiencies and reduce overall costs.
  • Confere with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Estimate values according to knowledge of market price.
  • Determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
  • Prepare purchase orders or bid requests.
  • Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Approve invoices for payment and resolve problem invoices promptly.
  • Expedite delivery of goods to users and communicate information to internal customers.
  • Search for new qualified suppliers and/or products as required.
  • Perform vendor surveys.
  • Strive to keep inventory at a minimum and actively pursue reducing obsolete inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What

You Will Have:
  • Be self‑motivated.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • CPM or CPSM certified, Professional in Supply Chain Management, Certification in Purchasing Management.
What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university.
  • Four or more years of relevant functional experience required. Experience with purchasing in the manufacturing industry.
  • Able to travel up to 10 %.
