Substitute Bilingual; English​/Spanish Teacher

Position: Substitute Bilingual (English/Spanish) Teacher
PURPOSE STATEMENT

On an on-call/substitute basis, this position will perform related duties of a teacher to provide continuity in the day-to-day responsibilities during the absence of the regular teacher.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Manage classroom and provide instruction according to lesson plans as prepared by the classroom teacher.

* Provide classroom environment which promotes active learning.

* Assist the teacher with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, lunchroom duty, recess, etc.

* Work with students to help reinforce learning objectives.

* Adhere to all Walla Walla Public Schools board policies and procedures.

* Use appropriate judgment to act in the best interest of students at all times.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Building Administrator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

* Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.

* Experience working with children preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Knowledge and skill in instructional principles, methods and techniques.

* Commitment and ability to work with a full range of students.

* Skill in classroom management, student discipline and developing positive techniques for improving student behavior.

* Ability to maintain confidentiality.

* Ability to establish and maintain positive effective working relationships with a variety of students, staff, and community in a multicultural and diverse socio-economic setting.

* Ability to serve as a role model and treat students as individuals in a professional manner.

* Ability to communicate effectively using both English and Spanish, to include reading, writing, and speaking.

Licenses/Special Requirements

* Completed Employment Application/ Background Check.

* Must complete Walla Walla Public Schools Risk Management and Bloodborne Pathogens Training upon hire.
