Position: Vice President for Student Life

The Vice President for Student Life (VPSL) is the principal architect of this vision for student life, supporting WWU's mission, vision, and core values, capturing the broad and meaningful participation of contemporary students. This senior level leader serves as the chief student administration officer and is responsible to the President for overseeing comprehensive student life as well as representing student interests to the President

Required Experience

Education:

Master’s or earned doctoral degree preferred.

Experience/

Skills:

  • Possesses advanced management skills in team-building, strategic planning, goal setting, and financial management.
  • Displays a standard of excellence with work processes and outcomes, including good attention to detail, honoring University policies and all regulatory requirements, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Exhibits strong customer service skills and a genuine desire for interacting with and motivating diverse groups of people in a variety of circumstances.
  • Demonstrates an exceptional ability to solve problems—exercising good judgment, maintaining an approachable and team-oriented attitude, and taking ownership of and following through with work responsibilities.
  • Possesses an entrepreneurial and creative work style that generates new ideas and nurtures a strong campus community.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, including listening skills.
  • Collaborates openly and effectively with senior colleagues in other domains.
  • People management:
