Job Overview

Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach courses throughout the  academic year. Positions are part‑time/temporary and offer flexible hours, with opportunities to teach at Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, or remotely online. Qualified candidates are considered for the standing pool and reviewed months prior to the start of each quarter.

Energy Systems Technology Instructor

The instructor will be part of a pool of professionals available for teaching various courses, including EST 250 (Programmable Logic Controllers). The assignment is part‑time, contingent on enrollment, and located at the Walla Walla campus.

General Responsibilities

Faculty members are professional educators committed to providing students with relevant, equitable, and innovative learning opportunities. General responsibilities include: preparing and delivering course materials, providing timely feedback, assigning final grades, and connecting students to campus resources and support services.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place.
  • Demonstrate professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignment.
  • Provide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarter.
  • Provide clear explanations, assignments, and directions.
  • Conduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback so students are aware of their performance throughout the quarter.
  • Assign and submit grades based on the results of evaluations and the college grading policy.
  • Maintain student records and grades in the College's LMS.
  • Post and be available during office hours that are reasonable for student access.
  • Maintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculum.
  • Review and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technology.
  • Utilize available technology appropriate to the assignment.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Electrical Technology or Energy Systems Technology; or
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; or
  • Documented completion of an Apprenticeship program (e.g., IBEW or CITC) and/or current electrical journeyman‑level license; or
  • Extensive experience as a technician for a power generation utility; or
  • Experience teaching/training mechanical‑electrical concepts; or
  • Military experience in the role of engineer; or
  • Minimum of three years of related work experience in an industrial maintenance mechanic/electrical technician role; or
  • Recent WWCC Energy Systems Technology program graduate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at a community college.
  • Experience using instructional technology to support student learning, including LMS, digital whiteboards, and Zoom.
  • Experience teaching or training in a variety of modalities, including in‑person, hybrid, blended, and online.
  • Experience working with and relating to persons from varied cultural, ethnic, gender, age, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
Conditions/Terms of Employment

This part‑time instruction assignment is contingent on enrollment and located at the Walla Walla campus. The employee must provide acceptable documentation of lawful employment within three days of hire and provide transcripts. WWCC participates in E‑Verify. Candidates may be subject to a criminal history background check. The college is a tobacco‑free institution. Employees must participate in direct deposit for salary payment.
