Job Description
Aims Community College’s Automotive Department seeks an instructional assistant to provide classroom and hands‑on support for students. The role involves working closely with the primary instructor to deliver small‑group sessions, coach student performance, and assist with equipment maintenance and training station set‑up.
Responsibilities- Instruct small‑group sessions to demonstrate skills and coach student skill performance in compliance with student‑faculty ratios.
- Follow college and department procedures for student evaluation and grading.
- Evaluate student performance and document student skill proficiencies (informal skills check‑off activities and formal skills evaluation sessions).
- Present individual didactic instruction on specific topics as needed—does not present the majority of course material.
- Perform or provide student supervision of the repair and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Assist with the set up and tear down of training stations, classrooms, and related facilities.
- Assist the primary instructor with assuring compliance with outside agency regulations.
- Specialized certifications and/or related skills/experience in the automotive industry.
- Minimum of one (1) year of teaching and/or training experience.
- Ability to organize tasks as demonstrated by past accomplishments or experiences.
- Strong human relations and communication skills.
Minimum hourly rate: $34.57. Part‑time employees receive some benefits depending on hours worked, including tuition waiver for Aims courses, access to the PERC gym for employees and one guest, free parking on all campuses, and supplemental retirement programs.
