Assistant Dean of Nursing – Walla Walla Community College

Salary:
Base $99,797 - $112,912 plus 26% nursing educator stipend equals $125,744 - $142,269. Eligible for additional stipend resulting in $122,082 - $138,125 (depending on fiscal guidelines).
Job Type: Full‑time, professional.

- Lead development of long‑range goals and objectives for the nursing program.
- Maintain compliance with accreditation standards (ACEN) and state nursing regulations; provide regular updates to the Dean.
- Assist in developing program policies, nursing curriculum, outcomes assessment, and accreditation documentation.
- Align program outcomes with institutional goals and industry needs.
- Support strategic planning, resource allocation, and policy implementation for student success and program excellence.
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, NC‑SARA, and quality instruction standards.
- Oversee faculty adoption and implementation of curriculum revisions.
- Manage lead faculty duties for first‑ and second‑year nursing levels.
- Plan and complete student clinical placements and orientations.
- Maintain student and program records per college and regulatory guidelines.
- Implement nursing ATI testing and Exam Soft on campus.
- Facilitate assessment planning for classroom, program, and department.
- Resolve day‑to‑day challenges and ensure accreditation standards are met.
- Supervise full‑ and part‑time nursing faculty; recruit tenure‑track and adjunct faculty.
- Provide faculty orientation, mentoring, and evaluations.
- Assist planning and implementation of student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
- Advise returning nursing students and monitor academic progress; report retention and progression issues to the Dean.
- Liaise between faculty and student services on academic concerns.
- Build relationships with faculty and staff to administer program policies and opportunities.
- Participate in college committees and communicate program needs to central administration.
- Convene Nursing Advisory Council meetings.
- Collaborate with external partners to align graduate outcomes with local healthcare industry needs.
- Assist with faculty recruitment, onboarding, and professional development initiatives.

Required
- Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Registered Nurse in Washington or eligibility to be licensed.
- Five years of experience as a registered nurse.
- Knowledge of nursing practice at the practical or associate level.
- Experience in curriculum development and administration.
- Two years of nursing education or preparation in education including adult learning theory, teaching methods, curriculum development and evaluation.
Preferred
- Two years community college teaching experience.
- Experience teaching via online, hybrid, web‑enhanced, face‑to‑face, or audio/video modalities.
- Two years of higher education leadership experience (e.g., Department Chair, Director).
- Knowledge of nursing practice at the associate degree level.
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
Full‑time professional position, eligible for nursing educator stipend. Work is performed indoors in an office environment; exposure to blood‑borne pathogens during lab or practicum is possible.
Schedule:
Monday‑Friday 8‑hour days; summer Monday‑Thursday 10‑hour days with occasional nights, weekends, and overnight travel.
