This position is a Full‑Time Non‑Tenure Assistant Professor at the Walla Walla campus, starting September 2026. Responsibilities include instruction, curriculum development, student support and mentorship, faculty engagement, and maintaining office hours.

• Effectively teach the adopted curriculum at a variety of skill levels and evaluate student progress toward learning objectives.
• Create program‑learning activities that support individual student learning needs and appropriate evaluation of student progress.
• Provide structured, hands‑on instruction in culinary arts, ensuring students actively perform all aspects of production, planning, and service.
• Ensure recipes used in instruction and food service are standardized, costed, and reviewed for alignment with Farm to Fork initiatives and budgetary goals.
• Advise students on academic and career pathways, actively mentoring them in job placement and industry networking.
• Develop and update curriculum to respond to industry trends and improve equitable student outcomes.
• Evaluate student progress toward learning outcomes, including assignments, projects, quizzes, and standardized tests.
• Design inclusive instructional strategies for classroom, small groups, and individualized instruction.
• Participate in industry advisory board meetings and community partnerships.
• Work closely with the Farm to Fork team to align production and instructional needs.
• Maintain and submit student records, documentation, and program reports.
• Maintain structured office hours.

• Implement diverse teaching and learning strategies to accommodate varied student preparedness.
• Design curriculum, assignments, and projects aligned with learning outcomes.
• Develop student knowledge through consistent formative and summative assessment.
• Create learning opportunities that recognize student diversity and foster inclusion.
• Ensure students have technological and digital literacy skills needed for success.
• Engage in continuous professional growth and activities that promote the college’s mission.

• Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts (or closely related credential).
• Demonstrated proficiency as an Executive Chef and/or teaching Culinary Arts at the college level (minimum two years); teaching experience as a teaching assistant or adjunct instructor may count.

• Experience teaching at a Community College.
• Experience using technology and teaching in a variety of modalities: face‑to‑face, web‑based, hybrid, HyFlex, or online.
• Management experience in the culinary industry.
• Experience writing program curriculum and an interest in innovative strategies and delivery.
• Experience incorporating technology in the classroom.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

This Full‑Time Non‑Tenure‑Track Assistant Professor position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employment is negotiated with the Association for Higher Education. Candidates must provide lawful authorization to work in the United States and undergo a criminal background check. The position is on a 176‑day contract.

Salary is determined by education level and experience under the negotiated faculty salary schedule, ranging from $74,930 to $85,422. Additional compensation is available for doctorate degree holders. Benefits include medical, dental, life, long‑term disability insurance, paid sick leave, and retirement and deferred compensation programs. All full‑time employees participate in a 3% deferred compensation contribution to the Washington State Deferred Compensation Program.
