JOB PURPOSE

ARAC Leaders support K-5 students in Walla Walla Public Schools through reading and math tutoring, mentoring, and classroom engagement. As part of the
ARAC Immersive Learning Program
, Leaders build meaningful relationships while developing communication, collaboration, leadership, and other transferable skills through hands-on, community-based learning.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in literacy and math
• Build positive relationships that encourage student growth and confidence
• Support Teacher/Supervisors with classroom activities and projects.
• Adapt support to meet the needs of different learners.

Programming & Engagement

• Assist with classroom projects, enrichment activities, and special events when appropriate.
• Develop or lead age-appropriate activities with Teacher/Supervisor guidance.
• Participate in reflection and share classroom experiences and successes.
• Partner with Teacher/Supervisors, school partners, and fellow ARAC Leaders
• Communicate about classroom experiences, questions, successes, and support needs
• Participate in required training and
  Monthly Reflection Meetings
• Maintain consistent communication and follow the agreed-upon schedule

• Ability to work collaboratively with Teacher/Supervisors and school partners.
• Experience working with youth is a plus (tutoring, coaching, babysitting, camp leadership, etc.).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Incoming 1st-year student at Whitman College

State Work-Study eligibility required

• Clearance from the Washington State Patrol before placement
• Availability for 4-7 hours/week during school hours (8 AM-3 PM)
