Job Summary
Responsible for planning, directing, and managing comprehensive facility programs for the Corps of Engineers.
Responsibilities- Plan and direct comprehensive programs for the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of Corps of Engineers facilities.
- Advise staff on adequacy and physical condition of facilities and recommend actions necessary to provide required facilities for unit readiness.
- Maintain liaison between the Corps and supporting agencies to ensure facilities are adequately maintained.
- Inspect facilities to validate existing conditions, determine required maintenance and repair activities, utilization of existing assets, and adequacy of contractual requirements.
- Provide technical advice and instruction in facility management procedures.
- Provide detailed cost estimates for all requested work in support of planning and programming efforts.
Employees may be required to work in extremely austere conditions, including:
- Extended work shifts of 12–16 hours per day.
- Limited sleeping arrangements, such as sleeping bags or in vehicles.
- Dependence on basic amenities that may be unreliable or absent.
- Operations in environments with extreme heat, humidity, cold, rain, or unstable terrain.
- High potential for physical fatigue and stress.
- Minimum one year of experience relevant to planning and directing facility programs.
Specialized experience includes: planning and directing comprehensive programs, determining operating and maintenance requirements, forecasting resource requirements, budgeting, and evaluating program effectiveness through inspections, budget controls, and management improvement studies. - Time‑in‑Grade Requirement:
If employed in a General Schedule position within the last 52 weeks, must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS‑11). - U.S. citizenship and ability to provide required documentation.
