Duties
* Provide customer service/systems training to commercial and military shippers on technical transportation requirements.
* Provide technical advisory assistance on transportation practices and traffic patterns pertaining to freight which moves through the Area of Responsibility.
* Coordinate areas such as data capture, cargo documentation and cargo handling to improve efficiency within the Defense Travel System and carrier performance.
* Coordinate with other entities to ensure training and development of operational plans necessary to meet contingency readiness movement requirements.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for all Marine Cargo tasks to include stow plan verification, cargo reception, cargo compatibility, coordination with Coast Guard and Agriculture and container and piece counts. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
* The incumbent of this position must be capable of deploying to foreign and domestic ports with short notice. It is expected that deployment could occur as frequently as four times per year lasting between 7 to 120 days.
* Special circumstances could require longer or more frequent deployments. During deployment the employee may be required to work extended hours under austere field conditions and may work with hazardous cargo, to include ammunition.
* The incumbent is required to deploy with the headquarters to new temporary locations in times of national weather situations, such as hurricanes.
* At some Brigades, employee must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State or government driver's license.
* Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights. Qualifications Who May Apply:
