Position: Safety \u0026 Occupational Health Specialist with Security Clearance
Duties
* Prepares and conducts briefings, meetings, training classes, and associated functions
* Prepares and distributes safety promotional and informative materials to maintain safety awareness.
* Leads or participates in interdisciplinary working groups to support local initiatives, resolves safety related issues, or develops strategies for improving safety performance.
* Serves as project officer for local safety initiatives.
* Reviews purchase and service contracts.
* Recommends procedures to control or eliminate hazardous operations or conditions.
* Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid US State Driver's license.
* Incumbent must possess or complete CP-12 Level I Professional Certification program within 24 months of appointment. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
* This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
* This position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 3 years by a current permanent Army employee.
* Employees who accept such time-limited appointment opportunities will be required to sign a statement of understanding.
* ACTEDS training is mandatory for personnel filling these positions. Incumbent must possess or complete CP-12 Level I Professional Certification program within 24 months of appointment. Qualifications Who May Apply:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes
1) Conducting investigations of accidents and/or perform risk assessments to develop methods for prevention
2) Issuing safety and occupational health surveys to identify risk potential;
3) conducting safety and occupational health inspections to ensure they are in compliance with OSHA or DoD guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Time in Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Education FOREIGN
