Duties
* Works jointly with the Installation Range Officer and Range Operations Officer in the planning, development, and execution of safety programs.
* Manages the Range Safety Program.
* Ensures that installation range safety requirements are adhered to in the scheduling of range use, maintenance, modification, and installation of ranges, and use of training facilities.
* Advises Commanders and Unit Training Officers on current and anticipated future policies, objectives, and programs as they pertain to range facility operations. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* Incumbent is required to regularly enter the Installation Live-Fire Impact Area in the performance of assigned duties.
* Performs duties on an irregular tour of duty subject to intermittent 24-hour/seven day scheduling of work activities in order to conform to Range Training Schedules and construction and refurbishment activities.
* Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain Level 2 DA Range Safety Certification.
* Position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
* Position requires a pre-employment physical and annually thereafter.
* This position has been designated as Mission Essential.
* Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance Level.

Experience:
Have one year of specialized experience which includes the following. knowledge of range safety regulations, and the experience to plan, develop and execute the programs, policies and procedures involved in the safe operation of live fire ranges and training areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
