Job Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT

A Technology Specialist III's role is critical in an organization, particularly within a school district. This position’s primary responsibilities include deploying and maintaining Windows OS imaging solutions, ensuring consistent and secure installations, providing comprehensive support, optimizing workstation performance, providing user training and assistance, and working as a connected and collaborating Technology Services Department team member.

Overall, the role of the Technology Specialist III is crucial in maintaining a reliable, secure, and efficient computing infrastructure within a school district. Their technical expertise and support contribute to an enhanced educational experience for students and staff, enabling them to leverage technology effectively in their learning and teaching endeavors.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain efficient imaging strategies and processes for Windows OS computers, ensuring standardized installations and configurations across the school district.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems, software, and applications on staff and student devices, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess hardware and software needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and ensure seamless integration within the school district's technology infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and timely resolution of hardware and software issues for staff and students, employing a customer‑centric approach to ensure high levels of user satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular system updates and security patches, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data on Windows OS computers.
  • Maintain an inventory of hardware and software assets, tracking licensing, warranties, and upgrades to ensure compliance and efficient resource allocation.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and documentation to educate staff and students on the effective use of Windows OS computers, promoting digital literacy and productivity.
  • Collaborate with the technology team to evaluate emerging technologies, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend innovative solutions to enhancing the school district's technological capabilities.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of technology initiatives, such as network upgrades, device rollouts, and system migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to staff and students.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in Windows OS technologies and other EdTech systems, participating in professional development activities to enhance technical knowledge and skills.
Other Functions
  • Collaborate with other technology department team members to address immediate district demands.
  • Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position and the department or as directed by the Director of Technology and Information Services.
Reporting Relationships
  • Reports to the Director of Technology and Information Services
Mental Demands
  • Experiences frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
  • Must occasionally work with distraught or difficult staff or public.
  • Required to convey technical information to non‑technical staff.
Physical Demands
  • Required to stand for prolonged periods, work in cramped spaces and in non‑routine positions.
  • Required to lift and carry heavy objects and equipment; ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Required to travel to various work sites.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: 2 year college or technical degree in related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of related technology experience with system administration, installations, maintenance, consulting, and project management.
