Overview
Washington Soldiers Home is accepting applications for a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse 2 (LPN
2) on a swing shift in Orting, WA. This is a 40-hour-per-week position with a Thursday–Monday schedule, 2:00 pm–10:30 pm. The work is in a 24/7 facility with a differential as described in the posting.
- Prepare, carry out, evaluate, and revise resident treatment plans based on observations and physician/other professional recommendations.
- Pass medications; administer, monitor, and document treatments; assess resident condition (including skin); promote participation in activities.
- Provide suctioning, oxygen administration, catheterization, irrigation; manage IVs, colostomy/trach care; maintain feeding tubes and pumps.
- Process physician orders; assist with routine rehabilitative and maintenance activities.
- Other duties as assigned to support resident care.
- Current Washington state practical nurse license or an unencumbered practical nurse multistate license.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English; ability to perform data entry; maintain confidentiality; support a positive living environment; follow directions; document and report observed changes in patient condition and behavior.
- Washington state practical nurse license preferred.
- Long-term care experience and/or one year of practical nurse experience.
- Understanding of nursing/restorative care practices, infection control, documentation, and client rights.
- Experience in assessing, evaluating, and participating in development of care plans.
- Must pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two years; background information may influence employment suitability.
- Must comply with annual Tuberculosis screening.
- Must wear required PPE and meet respiratory protection, safety, and lifting requirements (lift up to 60 lbs, reach 36").
- Must maintain a valid Washington practical nursing license.
- Must maintain regular attendance and complete mandatory training and orientation.
- Must comply with all agency policies, procedures, and applicable collective bargaining agreements; sign confidentiality statements; possess a valid driver’s license if travel is required.
