Salary Range: $33.86 - $45.57/hour
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN4) On‑Call for the WA State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, WA.
Under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LPN4 supports the department’s mission to improve public safety by helping implement the nursing process and delivering services that promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment to various health conditions.
Duties- Administer medication.
- Use tools, techniques, and physical and cognitive skills and abilities to practice nursing safety and effectively in the correctional setting and within the scope of practice defined by state law and administrative code, ensuring patient care is safe, effective, efficient, and clinically appropriate.
- Provide competent patient care.
- Self‑evaluate and practice professional nursing conduct at all times.
- Delegate and assign tasks to other staff as appropriate.
- Provide effective communication and documentation.
- Perform all other tasks assigned.
- Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse or an unencumbered Multistate License from a participating Compact Licensure State as outlined by the Nurse Licensure Compact and Department of Health, with completion of Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and MLS demographic survey.
- Two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficient use of computer‑based programs to schedule, monitor, and track patient information, perform data entry and word processing, communicate via email, and other programs required to complete assigned work.
- Experience working as a nurse in an acute care setting or a correctional facility.
- Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing recognized by the US Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
