Job Overview
A Registered Nurse (RN) will provide cardiac catheterization (Cath) care, including moderate sedation and critical nursing support within Providence St. Mary Medical Center’s Cath Lab and associated interventional radiology sites. The RN will collaborate with technologists, interventional cardiologists, and radiology staff to manage patients undergoing a range of procedures from biopsies to implant placements.
Shift DetailsPart‑time (30 hours per week), 0.75 FTE. The role consists of 10‑hour daily shifts with overtime after 40 hours per week. Regular shifts are assigned Monday through Friday, with rotating call coverage during weeknights, weekends, and short‑term call. Call is a required component of the position.
Responsibilities- Obtain ACLS and Moderate Sedation Certification within the first month of employment.
- Operate cardiac cath lab devices such as Penumbra, Rotablator, Shockwave, Impella, and Maquet Balloon Pumps.
- Provide moderate sedation and critical nursing care for patients undergoing cath lab and interventional radiology procedures.
- Collaborate with the four‑person rotating call team and interventional cardiologist to deliver 24‑hour coverage.
- Coordinate pre‑operative care and post‑operative follow‑up with teams in radiology, inpatient units, and the pre‑operative area.
- Adhere to a 6‑week rotating schedule that includes an average of 14 call days, 2 weekends, and mid‑week rotating call coverage.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Washington Registered Nurse license upon hire.
- National Provider BLS – American Heart Association upon hire.
- National Provider ACLS – American Heart Association upon hire.
- One year of nursing experience upon hire.
- 2+ years of critical care experience in Emergency, Intensive Care, or related settings.
- Bachelor of Nursing degree (BSN) preferred;
Bachelor required within 3 years if not already achieved. - Certification in a related specialty area preferred, such as Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS).
