Overview
The registered nurse is accountable for the delivery and supervision of safe, quality care that is individualized for assigned patients and follows the nursing process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation). The registered nurse accepts and promotes professional development as an integral part of nursing practice. She/He will access, analyze, customize, coordinate and communicate the patient's plan of care and activities collaboratively with other members of the health care team.
Families and/or significant others will be included within the plan of care as appropriate. She/He will direct, delegate and manage the care delivered by colleagues and subordinates. The registered nurse performs all duties in a manner that respects and supports the family centered care model. Collegial and collaborative care will reflect the philosophy of the Division of Nursing, the Mission and Core Values of the Sisters of Providence, and National Patient Safety Standards.
