This position is for an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. The nurse will float between units as required. Weekends are required on a rotating schedule. Block scheduling is needed for this role. The expected patient ratios are 1:5. Special requirements include BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications. The facility is a short-term acute care facility and a Level III trauma center. There are 104 staffed beds within the facility.
Daily census is 90+ patients. Patient age groups range from neonates to geriatrics. Staffing includes interdisciplinary support from various departments. The role involves managing a variety of patient diagnoses including abdominal pain, acute psychosis, drug overdoses, traumatic brain injuries, and more. Special skills required include management of ventilated patients, central line care, triage, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Candidates must be proficient in starting and maintaining IVs.
Continuous IV sedation and titration of IV vasopressors are also part of the skill set required. Patients may present with multi-organ dysfunction or trauma. The position requires strong communication and teamwork skills for effective patient care.
