Sociology Research Assistant (Sex Offenders)
PAY RANGE:$17.13/hour

JOB PURPOSE
A sociology research assistant providing support with interview data of sex offenders in preparation for publication.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Using software to transcribe and check quality of transcripts
- Coding transcript data for specific phenomena
- Identifying relevant laws and cases

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Individuals must be able to explain and demonstrate that they possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Qualitative research methods skills (SOC 207: research methods or similar coursework):

- Knowledge of ethical research practices

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS TO BE DERIVED BY STUDENTS IN THIS JOB:
Students will gain valuable experience handling real research data, preparing it for analysis, and coding data. Students will also learn how to collaborate effectively on research projects in an ethical manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have taken some coursework that prepares them for qualitative data use (such as SOC 207).
