Position SummaryThe Irrigation Technician assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems across Walla Walla Nursery Co. operations. This position supports the Irrigation Foreman in ensuring all water systems function efficiently, safely, and in accordance with nursery production needs.
As part of the Facilities Department’s hybrid workforce, the Irrigation Technician may also assist with product deliveries during the nursery’s busy shipping season, operating company vehicles as assigned. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and teamwork to maintain consistent water management standards across the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems including overhead, drip, micro‑sprayer, and drainage systems.
- Perform regular inspections to identify leaks, clogs, or pressure issues and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Assist in system layout setup, assembly, and testing under the direction of the Irrigation Foreman.
- Operate tools, trenchers, tractors, and other irrigation‑related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Support preventative maintenance schedules and maintain accurate service records.
- Maintain irrigation shop cleanliness, organization, and assist with parts inventory.
- Follow safe work practices and adhere to all company safety standards.
- Assist with seasonal delivery operations by driving company vehicles, including CDL deliveries, when needed.
- Perform additional facility support duties as assigned by the Irrigation Foreman or Facilities Manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of experience in irrigation installation, repair, or maintenance preferred.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, valves, pumps, controllers, and water management principles.
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to operate light machinery, tractors, and hand tools safely.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A License.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team under varying weather conditions.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work is primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, cold, and wet conditions.
