Position Summary
The FIND Coach delivers and implements the FIND Coaching program, Filming Interactions to Nurture Development (FIND) (more information about the science of FIND in this link) with caregivers and families in English and/or Spanish. FIND is an evidence-based and strengths-centered coaching program that uses video to encourage caregivers’ developmentally supportive interactions with the children in their care. The FIND Coach conducts weekly filming and coaching visits (in-home or virtually) with fathers.
Participates in regular consultation meetings to receive and maintain FIND Coach Certification. Completes weekly documentation of services to meet program requirements. This program is funded until December 31, 2029.
- Develops a regular schedule of FIND Coaching sessions (in-person and/or virtually) and delivers coaching sessions to meet FIND Program fidelity
- Implements a strengths-based video coaching program for caregivers of young children using the Filming Interactions to Nurture Development Program (FIND)
- Conduct filming sessions, meeting caregivers in their home, other community-based locations, or virtually to obtain naturalistic footage of child-caregiver interaction
- Conduct coaching sessions. Share information with the caregiver about developmentally supportive caregiving. Then show the caregiver the FIND edited film and narrate as described in the FIND model.
- Provides technical support to caregivers participating in virtual FIND sessions
- Develops and maintains a positive, strengths-based relationship with caregivers, built on equity, inclusiveness, and cultural and linguistic responsiveness
- Achieves and maintains FIND Coach Certification
- Recruits caregivers and families interested in participating in FIND
- Participates in weekly consultation and individual supervision meetings
- Maintains FIND Implementation records (e.g. case tracking, coaching session notes, and other relevant documentation)
- Attends required trainings as needed
- Provides on-the-job training/technical support for new staff members
- Advocates for the values of a diverse population within the agency and the community
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
- Ability to establish positive, strengths-based relationships with caregivers and families that maintain and promote their self-respect and encourage their confidence
- Ability to demonstrate acceptance of diverse parenting beliefs
- Ability to exercise judgment and to handle stressful circumstances
- Competence in planning, organizing, scheduling, record keeping and oral and written communications
- Knowledge and experience in child development, early childhood education and/or social services
- Skilled in motivating families, understanding of family support principles, and parenting education
- Knowledge of effective communication techniques, conflict resolution skills, and adult education practices
- Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work effectively within a culturally diverse work environment and community
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrative staff, supervisor, and FIND consultant
- Proficient in MS Office and data entry
- Ability to adapt to new technology
- Work is split between caregivers’ homes, office, and car
- Visits involve environments that may include pets, residual smoke, and other typical household hazards like dirt and other spills (
Note:
we do not allow smoking during visits) - Travel for visits occurs daily; work is often done off-site between home visits
Hybrid work is a benefit of Akin’s flexible workplace but cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Hybrid work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs. This position requires the ability to work some evenings and weekends. Because meetings are scheduled around fathers’ availability, flexibility in work hours is essential.
