Birmingham Public Schools is seeking a secretary for Harlan Elementary School starting in the 2026-27 school year.

This is a full-time, 11 month position.

Qualifications

* Ability to communicate effectively with staff, and students and promote positive human relations with the community

* Ability to effectively prioritize long-term projects and daily responsibilities

* Excellent attendance record

* Strong organizational skills, problem-solving, and communication skills

* Proficiency in the use of software such as Power School, Frontline, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite

* Must maintain accurate budget and office records

* Capacity to cope with widely varying job assignments, ranging from basic and repetitious to complex. Flexibility and adjustment of daily schedules are a must

* Accounting and finance background preferred

* Must possess the ability to work well under pressure with accuracy and minimum supervision

* Commitment to maintaining confidentially specific to all student/school-related matters

* Secretarial experience preferred

* College or university coursework preferred
